Taking six of our remaining piglets to market tomorrow. Have got the tags, done the online movement and checked I don't need an entry form.
Anything else I need? It's our first time taking pigs so abit unsure.....
-
is it general mart or aimed at smallholders? if smallholders - try and include a description of what they are - if not for the catalogue then pin it to their pen. if its a farm market then it wouldnt matter so much.
have you set a reserve / checked the past sales prices so you dont get an nasty shock?
are they meat weight?
good luck

General market, spoke to auctioneer and prices are good at the moment so it's now or never...... Not looking forward to it much :-[

Good luck Sbom hope you come back with good news :fc:

Yes good luck with them. Trouble is a "good" market price is probably still a fair bit less than it costs to produce a pig.
-
I expect good means £10 each rather than £5. Let us know how you get on. :fc:
-
£48 each, topped the market I think  well pleased
-
at what age?
what breeds?
good price... i believe!!!
-
9. Weeks old. Landrace/large White x Pietrain
-
That's a good price :excited: about 4 times what i was expecting you to say.

Those are 'proper' commercial pigs. :pig:
-
That's the thing if they had been GOS or Berkshires they would have been a tenner.
-
Prices were very mixed and there was some very poor looking specimens. About 15 saddleback types that only made £5 each and some of them were just so tiny it wasn't nice. On the other hand another pen of saddle backs made £35.....
