Title: Companion pony wanted in Shropshire
Post by: wellies on January 18, 2014, 01:39:21 pm
I'm looking for a well mannered companion pony for my horse, due to loss of his field buddy. Harvey is a large hunter type but used to ponies & is a big gentleman with other horses regardless if they are mares or geldings. Ideally I'm looking for a pony who will cope when Harvey is worked for a few hours (happy to provide hay/treats as a distraction  :innocent:). Happy for prospective pony's owners to come and meet me, Harvey & see our yard. Harvey is kept at our home with good grazing & stables. We do have pigs on site & whilst all my horses have completely got used to them & are now never fazed this would not be a suitable home for a pony with a known fear of pigs.Have looked at our local RSPCA website & they only have youngsters available which would be unsuitable. If you have anything suitable please get in contact

Have you tried Horses4Homes?  They are a nationwide service to match people looking to rehome their horse/pony with a suitable home.  There is a fee, which can vary a lot as the owner says how much they would like to be donated to the charity, but this is clearly visible by each pony's details.  Good luck with your search.

Our tack shop has an ad for this except they are offering free livery- at own risk and diy. May be an idea?

We have a Welsh section A mare that would be available as a companion. She is/was a brood mare, but after her first foal it was discovered she had a slight heart murmur. This does not effect her in any way but she cannot have anymore foals or be broken as a precaution. She is used to pigs as we have Erbie who wanders around our small holding looking for anything edible! We can transport too. PM me if your interested.
