As a new commer to this site, I really do not want to be the bearer of bad news but it is ilegal to sell sanglier x pigs either for meat or breeding. I have this information from a good source and from the website www.oncfs.gouv.fr

They are very clear that any offspring from a wild boar should have been destroyed- such a shame really as they are lovely looking beasts.

Hello Ben,
can not help with pics, sorry, but if you are in the Loudeac area you could come and see for your self.
  Hello Sacha,
In am sorry to inform you but in BRITTANY it is not ilegal to keep, raise, breed from, sell ect. provided
you comply with your departmental D.D.S.V. INSTRUCTIONS. i.e. no clinical signs of Brucellosis or Swine Fever.
Each Department unfortunately, has different rules. In the Loire for example, you are not allowed to keep them, but they are not in the Loire, they are in Brittany. I can provide you with the Tel:no. of the D.D.S.V. Service Porc, should you reqire verifacation of this fact.

A foot note to the above.
The Sanglia X, have been blood tested for the above diseases and all of my stock have a certificate of Aujeszky clearance. Should you care to look at a previous posting " Blood Testing in France " you will see what tests are required of me as a Genetic Breeder of stock. These test are required 4 times each year, not 3 as at presant or the soon to be once a year. The testing for the Sanglia was carried out by Porc Spective, a veterinary practice, specialising only in pigs, located in Pontivy.

Thanks Petunia for replying, could you tell me what the D.D.S.V is please?  not being a full time small holder
I am new to all the relevant bodies that deal with such like. I will also look at the other thread you mentioned, also as a thought maybe if you post the phone number of the official body, it might be of interest to others.

Thank you

     Here you go Sacha,
                         D.D.S.V.  Direction Departemental Des Services Veterinaires. Tel; 02 96 01 37 10.

If you keep more than 1 pig, say 2 and they are 6 months or over, you are classified as an Elevage, even if you are keeping the animals to fatten for the freezer, stupid I know, they want to know about it.
   Hope this helps.

Sanglia (wild boar). X. Porkers - What are they crossed with?
What sex are they?
If males are they castrated?
How much of the live weight % can I expect as meat?
Does your price include professional slaughter and butchering fees?
Are they housed or freerange?

Have you sold these crosses as you've not responded?

Just a thought, if as Petunia says Brittany is the exception to the sanglier cross ruling,  then fine if you live in Brittany.  However could you still keep them if you live in Pays de Loire etc. if they have been bred in Brittany?  Just wondered.

We all were, my vet is still very suspect.  However in France it depends who you speak with on the day.  So we are probably all correct.

Would not like to have to take them to my abattoir though as I know what the response would be.  NON!
