Title: Lavender, Blue and Splash Orpington Cockerels - Kent
Post by: HesterF on January 14, 2014, 10:55:51 pm
I was wondering about hanging onto these boys for breeding but have decided to focus for this year. I've got one lavender, one that I think is blue (underparts light but nice dark cape) and one that's a lovely splash. They're all huge! The genes for the blue gene are interesting as with many breeds so the splash cockerel has the double blue gene - when combined with black orp hen, you'd get 100% blue offspring. The blue with a blue hen could potentially give a mix of black, blue and splash offspring (now I'm talking myself into keeping them!).

I'm in the far South East but not far off the motorway. £10 each or I'll eat them!

Where in the south east?  I am near Harlow but am after a decent cockerel.

I'm down between Ashford, Folkestone and Canterbury (about five miles from the channel tunnel if that helps) but happy to meet you midway on the motorways if that helps. They're all in together at the moment and scaling the netting to get to the hens in the next pen!
