Have you had a chance to use this yet? I was considering buying one but didn't know if they work/easy to use?? I'm not very good at hand plucking... :-[

I bought a smaller version that fitted to a hand held electric drill. Used it to pluck 2 geese. Dreadful mess, just needed some tar to complete the 1950s Mississippi look.

It removed the smaller feathers and some of the down well, left me the rest to remove. Given the mess it made, not sure I'll bother with it again.
The video on the website shows it working well on a duck though. Not sure it would cope with my Muscovies.

That's amazing Suziequeue. Doesn't it bruise the meat? Did you do anything to the bird to make the feathers come out easily? What are those 'spikes' made of?

The meat isn't bruised and I just dipped the bird in hot water (68 degrees) to loosen the feathers.


The fingers are just like the ones on Carl f k's original post. They are fairly standard.


I got the plan book from Herrick Kimball. There are lots of videos of people's finished Herrick Kimball chicken pluckers on You Tube.
