Title: Health eggs?
Post by: Klb on January 09, 2014, 01:29:14 pm
Hi,
I feel my chickens are looking slightly poor even though been wormed & constants food though they do roam free, just wondering would a poor chicken still lay? I'm getting plenty of eggs but feel so guilty as couple do look little worse for ware, as if it was the case it can kind of be a reassurance that I'm making them out worse than they actually are sort of thing..

in what way are they looking poor?

Are they maybe just moulting and looking a bit rough?

Hi Kib. A poorly chicken won't lay. They won't lay for the slightest excuse either. Moving the coop will stop them as will a sudden change of feed in my experience.

Chickens that have been laying well for a long time do tend to look a bit tatty.
