Title: macs and TAS smileys
Post by: marigold on August 31, 2009, 11:28:08 pm
Hello
I use a mac to access the forum. Does anyone know how I can get the smiley faces and little pics to work? It just comes up as code if i try to use them.

Hiya

Its a long time since I used a Mac but I think Command + "T" keys will show you the fonts
on your system - and then you can choose one with smileys to display in the text.

Well that worked - only thing is I had no way of knowing what I was putting up there. It didn't show the smiley on my screen.
Excuse me while I experiment

if I ever want to use an emoticon that isn't on a forum, I use this site.

I use Mac's and never have had a problem with smileys. Could it be the browser, rather than the mac ? (I use Firefox - different versions on different machines)  ;)

How do you put them in a message?

You go to the site that I mentioned in my earlier post, find the emoticon you want and click on it.

Then press control and C on the figures that come up for it at the bottom of the page. Go to the message you want to add the emoticon on and press control and V

Give it a go. :)

There are some good ones to be had. (http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Computer/blue-screen-of-death.gif)

You won't see the icons when you're editing a message regardless of what platform you're on or what browser you use.

They are just plain text codes which are converted by the forum software when viewing posts.

HTH.

That's terrible - you'll be hiding under the bed with the dog, this year

That is terrible - this year, no pockets in your clothes, and wear one of those
visors that the lads wear when their strimming -

Better to look a plonker for a night than get a firework in the eye - just
remembered Notting Hill, when he can't find his glasses and has to go
to the cinema wearing his diving goggles ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Gee that Hugh Grant was fit in that one ye knows :yum:
