Post by: Chris H on December 29, 2013, 03:06:12 pm
I am worming my sheep this week with combinex is it okay to use the coopers spot on at the same time? they are all more than a year old and not lambing.

Why are you using Spot On?  Very expensive flystrike preventative - I use Clik when the fleece is 1cm long after shearing or as soon as I see the first greenbottles, whichever happens first.

Combinex must not be used on sheep that have been or will be treated with organophosphorus compounds within 14 days

Don't know what Spot on contains as I haven't used it but I am sure you can look it up somewhere

Coopers spot-on uses Deltamethrin which is a synthetic pyrethroid , so quite safe  , I assume this product is being used for  ticks/lice/keds  at this time of year

Yes Shep I was using it on my sheep and goat as it was mentioned to prevent ticks and lice. I thought as I was bringing them in to worm I could do this as well?

Not usually applied as a preventative since it only lasts a short time  6wks or so ,mostly used as a treatment ,  remember it needs 2 hrs to dry and best not heavy rain for 24 hrs .
