Title: Fluke drench and Heptavac P
Post by: Bionic on December 14, 2013, 09:00:19 am
Just been working out dates in my diary and in Feb the sheep will be due both fluke drench and their Heptavac P jabs. Is it ok to bring them in and give both together?

Not ideal IMO.  Flukicide stresses their systems, the vaccinations need a fully operational immune system.  Sometimes the logistics dicate that you must do both together, but IMO (actually, in BH's O ;) but I agree with him) you'll get a better effect if you flukicide first, give it a few days to work through, then vaccinate.

Other opinions may be expressed!  lol

Thank you again Sally. It's no real problem for me to do them separately. They are all close to home. (We don't have enough land for them to be otherwise :D ) So I will probably give them a week I between.
Cheers

Same here, but I leave the fluke drench till after lambing for the in-lamb ewes, but mine normally get a drench in early January too. Heptavac 3 weeks before 1st one is due to lamb.

I would give a week between the two.  I (being a bit sad :)) work out my fluke timings in Sep/October so that it falls at a sensible time around lambing  - usually January and then the next dose will fall after lambing in April.
