Title: Looking to borrow an Incubator?

We are looking to borrow an incubator.......... :chook:

My over ambitious husband has bid for 3 x 6 Eggs on Ebay and has won them all!!!!!  Unfortunately they day he won them our broody hen has decided she no longer wants to be a mother and is no longer sitting in the egg box (she has been there the best part of the last 2 months).  The eggs are due to arrive this week so we are wondering if anyone has an incubator that we could borrow in return for some baby chicks if they hatch! :bouquet:

We are in Stirling Central Scotland.

Hi, Gillian

You can borrow mine - it's a Brinsea Octagon 10, so takes about 10 eggs, which is bizarre since we buy eggs by the dozen? It's OK but if you get the offer of a more sophisticated one, I won't be offended.

If there are any left over from Rosemary's incubator try them in a fresh nesting box with clean straw and shut her in with them - it work for me one time.

Gill you can also borrow mine if you require. It takes 18 eggs but is not automatic so you have to hand turn the eggs a few times each day. Hope you all enjoyed your chicken dinner. Andrew

Hi Rosemary / Andrew,

Thank you for your kind offers.  Rosie is no longer Broody but the day after she left Percie went back in the nest box.  6 eggs have arrived so far and have gone under her.  I shall give you a shout once the others arrive and maybe take you up if your incubator is still available.

Thank you once again Andrew for showing us how to prepair our Hubbard.  It was really great to be shown how to do it first hand rather than guessing.  He was delicious!  We just had him plain and roasted.  In fact we had the second cockerel tonight.  Honey and Mustard roasted - Honey from bees a couple of miles up the road served with carrots, peas and potatoes from our garden.  It is wonderful to have a complete home grown meal!

Had you been closer I would have loaned you one of my broody bantams or silkies - they have all been broody all summer long it seems.  But rather a trek from Derbyshire.....although I love Scotland, so it would have been a good excuse for a trip!!!
