I have a Shetland type (not sure if pure) whether. He was born early May and is bigger than his mum. Not poked him much yet so not sure of his weight. Was going to keep him till hogget but need to cut back on numbers.
Am thinking as he is taller and broader than his mum he may be worth sending off?

Personally if he's just for your own freezer, i'd send him off anyway. If you need to cut down would it really matter if he was just under?
I sent a lamb off at 3 months this year as he was a rig and starting to get naughty with the girls and he was slightly lighter than I like but he was still tasty!

I've just got some may lambs back from the butchers. Ok they are small, but by golly they look delicious. I'd send them off, it makes slaughter and butchery charges a bit steep per kilo but if it's for yourself why not have the rolls Royce of tenderness and treat yourself :excited:
Ours were also sent as ram lambs and wanted them away before ram arrived and they got upset.
