The first Scottish sale of Zwartbles sheep will be held on Friday 18th September at the shiny new Stirling market. It was advertised in the Scottish Farmer last week so you may know about it already. All welcome especially as I should be taking a lovely well grown, well marked, friendly tup lamb (who has been shown and placed)once he's been 'used' - that's if I can actually bring myself to part with him!

What are zwartble sheep like to keep are the easy handled and do they mix well with other livestock ?

Hi John
As a breed they are generally docile mine are handled regularly and are very friendly and will come over to say hello even without a bucket ! some seem to particularly enjoy being handled they are easy to handle but they can be quite large - I would tend to do their feet with them tied up with a halter, picking up their feet like a pony rather than trying to turn them over!
I am aware of a few horsey people who have them out with their horses and they are fine
are you going to the sale?

My friend keeps them, I think he was going to a sale in Carlisle this week, or last!!
He loves his!!

Afraid not a bit far for me as I am based in Ireland. I was thinking of getting a few on the farm.
There are a few breeders over here but not many.
We have a drystock farm but also have a few pygmy goats on a smaller plot of land.
