Title: Hello from the Highlands (near Kyle of Lochalsh/Plockton)
Post by: Mrs South on November 13, 2013, 09:47:26 am
Hi

I'm Lynne.

I have been aware of the FB page for TAS for a while but only last week actually joined.

I live in the north-west Highlands, between Kyle of Lochalsh and Plockton, in a teeny tiny village with four houses (and I'm the only one who lives here all the time). My father's family goes back in the village to the mid 18th century. My dad has a croft which he works for the past 20 years almost and I got one a few year ago but we've been busy building a house. Now it's time to start workign on the croft, which hasn't been worked on for more than 100 years and is a 4.5 acre mass of overgrown grass and heather...so, LOTS to do go get it going.....

For the past two years since we moved into the house we've been sorting out an immediate garden - well, it's pretty much all raised beds and polytunnel so we've already started growing a lot of stuff.

Hope to become an active member of this group.

Lynne

Hi from Aberdeenshire - spent many a childhood vacation camping at the Plockton site and playing in rock pools, good luck with your croft.

oooh, hello everyone

Rosemary, yes, there is some commong grazings as well. not sure how much but at least the same again possibly a bit more, i'll ask my dad.

my friend lives in Monifieth so I told her we'd be needing a bed when we come to do one or two of your courses next year. we missed them this year as i'm a wedding photographer and i was booked on all the dates....maybe next year!

yes, hamish macbeth country. my wee brother was in one episode - dodgy claim to fame!

it is a gorgeous area - we are very lucky. once i figure out how to post some pics, I'll do so

thanks for the warm welcome and i've spotted the sub crofting forum too - brilliant!
