Title: Lamb-less once again :(
Post by: twizzel on November 05, 2013, 02:47:25 pm
The last of this year's lambs met their makers today including Bramble the lamb who always got stuck in the hedge, and Stumpy the lamb who knocked both his horns off  :D  feeling a bit sad now, although it was their time to go before the weather got too nasty, it means I am now lamb-less once again.
I will probably feel a bit better on Thursday when I've got the meat back and my freezer is full, and even better on Friday when I've bought our half pig from the butchers with some of the lamb money. But still, it's a bit sad.
Just got to get Christmas over and done with and then the farm we get our lambs from starts lambing mid January, so not long to wait. In the mean time I'll have to come on here for my sheep fix  (and maybe go over to our neighbour who has just bought 5 shetlands) :-\

Don't name them. We never do.

I don't name them normally, to be honest it didn't make me any more attached to these guys than the others who didn't have a name. We bought them as stores at the beginning of july so they were always destined for the freezer. Just a bit sad that I don't have anything to go and see on our walk round the farm now, although the cows are in and due to start calving any day so that should keep us occupied until the farm we get our orphan lambs from starts lambing in January. Plus the freezer is going to be soooo full by the end of the week  :excited:

I have to admit that when the lambs go I do feel sad but also relived that I manage to get them to weight without any mishaps.
