Is anyone going??
-
I really want to (and should since it's my local mart) but the cash fairies have taken all my money !
I don't think I could go and stand and NOT buy anything :-\
But it's my birthday soonish so maybe's I'll get an advance pressie ? ;)
-
I also planned to go but I see there are no goats for sale - I wasn't buying just wanted to be nosey really. Plus it's a 2 hr journey there and another 2 back so a bit far just to be nosey!!! :(
-
Ok, I'll be lee-nay-mates at the sale!
It's around 4 hours for me to get there so early start!!
Failing that, will anyone be at Stirling next month as I'm selling some Jacob boys and a billy goat.
-
I'l be at Stirling , but just for a nosey.
-
The big chicken will be there got my eye on some Shetland sheep and who knows what else.
-
Wear your TAS badges, just in case I make it !
I'll be easy to spot - the demented looking mad wumin, pushing a pram about ! ;D
I looked at the cataloge and think I'll be trying my hardest to get there ! Really want the GOS gilts or the 5 GOS weaners - Oh where are you Santa ???
-

So, Lee did you meet any one else with the TAS badge on?
-
Lee,
Did you happen to notice how much the GOS pigs were going for - did I miss any bargains there ?
-
Didn't see anyone else with their badge on.
The gilts went for around £80 - £100. They weren't too bad. The weaners were £20 each, as I remember!. The kune x were £5 - £20, sow and litter was around £400.
Not bad prices, except the kune x, can't understand what possesses folk to cross them!!!
Anyway, I'm home with my buys and look forward to Stirling next month!!!

When is the next Poultry sale at Stirling, any one know?
-
Is it not the 26th??
-
Hi Lee,
I saw that calf, is it ok? thought it was a bit thin and had a snotty nose.

He seemed fine, although he has now been castrated and been dosed up with selenium, cobalt, wormer, spot-on, precautionary anti-biotic and has been de-horned so is a touch cranky after that!!!
He is 2 years old, I was shocked when I saw his passport. We are assuming a twin, or orphan as he was not in great shape and I doubt he is a highlander, looks very charolais!
But then £105 isn't that bad for what he is!!!
-
What's your plans for him? Any photos?
-
wouldnt have guessed he was 2, looked under a year, poor chap must be in shock LOL, best of luck with him, highland x is very tasty LOL
Mandy
ps liked the look of the cow and calf next to him, calf looked very nice, bit wild though.
-
We tried forthe cow and calf but decided that she looked far older than 7, and not worth the price!
Doganjo - the calf is for the pot, but due to it's size, won't be for a while!!!
It'll be very tasty!
-
I thought that the auctioneer said the calf was a year old but its feet told another storey, glad it went to a good caring home. Sheep did a good trade Shetlands much better than previous years or so it seemed. Tried for a couple of black Shetland lambs but went a bit over my price. Came away with a pair of Scots Grey Bantams for some new blood. A good day out and a rest from work, looking forward to Stirling rare breeds.

Normally we are very caring, but I doubt "jamsie cotter" will be thinking that of us today!
It is always a shock to them when they are moved and he got a rough deal from us after we treated him with every possible thing in one go!!
Jamsie cotter was rab c nesbitts friend and after I bandaged him up today with gauze and black insulating tape he just looks very stereotypically Glaswegian!!!!
I will try take a photo of him tomorrow!!!
