Any suggestions?

Without a shadow of a doubt, Tim Tyne The Sheep Book - everything you could wish to know. Go to Amazon and find it there - its BRRRRRRRRILLIANT.

Def Tim thyne one also there is a smallholders one written by national trust called sheep keeping i have found usefull and they are cheap on amazon

Another vote for Tim Tyne's book. Very informative without being over complicated.

The Agnes C Winter books on sheep veterinary issues and foot problems is also really good - your local library may have them, so you can check them through first. Then maybe there are on www.abebooks.co.uk (http://www.abebooks.co.uk) or secondhand on amazon. Neither of them are very recent publications, but still up to date.
For general sheep care Tim Tyne's book is the one you need.

We've got a collection of sheep books we've used or have been recommended by other members here:

I would suggest starting with Janet and John book 1 and then working up from there, as sheep aren't to good at reading ;D

I'm for Tim Tyne too. Mine have gone past the Janet and John stage ;D

Tim Tyne's book and Agnes Winter's Lambing book. And then another book on diseases . ... Agnes Winter does a good pictorial guide on health and disease.

Everyone who has bought the Tim Tyne book sings its praises to the heavens, so if you can pick up one at a price you can afford, that would clearly be a good purchase
You'll see in the book recommendations that I have praised Jane Upton & Denis Soden's Introduction to Keeping Sheep. This was my first sheep book and I cannot recommend it highly enough to the beginner. I still keep it by me. The lambing checklist and descriptions of malpresentations and how to rectify them in particular are as good as any you will find.
I also praise Eddie Straiton's Sheep Ailments - Recognition and Treatment. This is the update to the original TV Vet book and is full of comprehensive descriptions of ailments along with very good pictures of stricken sheep and of applying treatments.
If you stick with sheep you will probably end up owning either both of the ones I recommend, or the Tim Tyne one which covers it all - so you'll spend about the same amount of money either way ;)

I've got Eddie wotsits sheep ailments TV Vet book too, but didn't find it terribly useful. These two similar books by Agnes Winter are better IMHO, and more up-to-date:

Seriously though, I also recommend Tim Tyne's The Sheep Book. It has been most informative for us, as complete novice sheep keepers.
