Title: government to ban pet pig keeping???????
Post by: smiffy on August 15, 2009, 08:26:37 pm
I have just read on another forum that the government is to decide whether or not to ban pet pig keeping over the next week.

the other forum says this will be for a period of 12 months due to swine flu.

has anyone else heard this? does this mean you cant keep a pet pig at all or no new owners?
what constitutes a pet pig?
its all nonesence if true!

Swine flu can possibily be passed to pigs from humans (according to farmers guardian a few weeks ago) but the other way round is not strickly true cos its a mutated virus
Have not heard but will certainly look into this (if only to entertain the troops at work with my agricultutre trivia - they say HFW has nothing on me!!)

How can they define what is a pet and what is not?  I suppose micro pigs might be a bit of a give away, but anything else surely could be tomorrow's breakfast.  I guess its a wind up.
