with all this heavy rain across Scotland in the past 48hours - why not make use of that, large lifeless puddle that has formed in your front garden! Get some ducks! ---- :raining: :raining: + :&> :&> :&> =
i have for sale a varied selection of Laying ducks all 2013 hatched - they are now fully sexed.
i have a large range of colours from a grey/purple to a pale brown almost beige!
i am looking for £8 for a female - how ever if you take a male along side your females i will do them for £5 each.
MALES ALONE ARE FREE
i'm in fife! cumon you know you want them!! :innocent:
-
that is a good price and the offer of a free male duck seems very fair. I live too far away and am putting male ducks in the freezer as I write.
Good luck - hope that you get lots of buyers and takers.
-
Out of 19 I had 7 males, as none of us really like duck as a meat it seems a shame just to top them - so will attemt to give them away first. Though it won't be to long in waiting as they are eating me out of house and home!
-
I'm looking for some runner ducks if you have any, probably 10 in total fawn or white but generally any colour but black
-
i'm afraid that all of my ducks are Runner crosses, some have more runner like characteristics but there are no true runners.
-
Hexhammeasure I have lots of white runner ducks looking for homes, like Cameron my females are £8 , I would give the males away for free, I am in the Borders just off the A1.
-
I don't mind crosses, if they look like heavy runners I would be happy, I would take 5 light coloured ducks and 1 drake from you, and daisy's mum if I could take 5 white runners from you I would be grateful
-
I'm sorely tempted to have more ducks, Cam. Do you think runners would have a better chance against a fox? I would of course learn from my last lesson and make sure they were all shut in before dark.
-
I'm just back from abroad - my apologies, Cameron for hijacking your post but you beat me to it! -
if any duck-lovers can't find what you are looking for at Cameron's - I'd have some more :roflanim: , not at all that far away. Same deal and as they are only remotely related with Cameron's you could get girls from Cameron and pick up one of our beautiful boys on the way home for free! For now I have KC crosses with stunning Mallard coloured characteristics and white-bibbed blacks of mixed breed. Shortly there might be more runnerlike boys but they are not quite old enough to be sexed, not long off though. I'd happily send photos.
Annie, I don't know how you could do without ducks in the first place after you'd had some before! That duck house of yours should be lived in ;) :&>

Haven't sexed them yet but will make the effort after tomorrow and ring the females then I will have a better idea of what I've got.

I know, Kerstin, but I'm just scared the fox is still watching. I have promised the small shed and cage to a friend, he's picking it up next week, but i still have a 6 x 4 shed inside a fenced run, and could shut them inside at night, and in theory I could net the run as well. But they'd have to get out onto the paddock and into the burn during the day.

Hi, I am looking for a couple of Indian runners but don't want to travel to far.
-
I've never had a duck taken by a fox, and well you've seen what lack of fences i have!
i think the key is just getting them locked away at night, managed to get these lot trained to either take them selves away, or allow them to be hearded in without too much hassle - even managed to get them penned up during the day to tag the males up

We have idiots in the village across the railway from here who feed the urban foxes - and it looks like they wander over here as well. I was stupid, my ducks used to go in their run every night and all I had to do was shut the cage door - I forgot that one night so obviously the foxes watch fro an opportunity. But I've learned my lesson so I won't forget again. I think I'll have another go.
-
I now have 3 reserved, 2 female and a drake - will do a stock take and list the remaining numbers
Thanks

7girls and 6boys

You still need to shift or have sucessfully found new homes for? If the second, congratulations, Cameron! OH is just asking around for a place for the boys. We don't like to eat ours either as they are laying breeds not meat birds, really. Not much on them worth killing. As I had to buy a new house in the end I can keep the girls but might reconsider if a girl is the condition of rehoming a boy.... :&>

Sorry still need to shift the above

Cameron, I'll take two more girls but don't want any more than one drake
-
i woulnd't let two drakes go to the same home, not if they have their fathers libido, so your okay on that one haha
-
The ducks and drake have arrived safely and are getting used to their new house. Great to see your set up and its a fantastic B&B your mom has!
Thanks for everything
