Title: Business / tradesmens names?
Post by: darkbrowneggs on October 13, 2013, 10:05:43 am
As a follow on to AndyJ's thread on place names...

My mother's lawyer was called Mr. Twist, and the local estate agent was Swindells

and for years the local planning officer here was Mr. Fussey

Anyone else deal with aptly named people?

Once lived near an opticians called C. Glass! For years there was also a shop in Sheffield selling electrical goods with the name over the door E. Socket! Always made me smile  ;D

It's called Nominative Determinism.  In other words, do people choose their trades to match their names?  Or possibly did the family aquire the name from way back and always stayed in the same trade?

There are loads in the medical world but I can't think of a single one at the moment  ::) :dunce: :D
