Title: Clippers, which ones?
Post by: Sbom on October 10, 2013, 01:17:58 pm: It's got to that time of year and our hairy boys are sweating that much when worked its time to get them clipped. Have got someone coming today to do them but am thinking of investing in some clippers of my own. My logic being I can follow the original clip and won't have wonky lines :fc:.
My question is can anyone recommend any brands? Looking for good quality that will last but not break the bank. Thinking they will save me in the long run.
Was also wondering if you can get combs for sheep dagging aswell :thinking: make them more multi-functional

Post by: lachlanandmarcus on October 10, 2013, 02:38:28 pm: The best ones (mains) I've found are Heiniger Progress, I got them as they are much more comfy for womens hands but I think they are actually more comfy for anyone TBH.

I did look into getting sheep combs for horse clippers but apparently the motors in horse clippers really arent man enough and will die. So ended up buying second hand lister sheep clippers.

Post by: ZaktheLad on October 10, 2013, 02:44:57 pm: I have Masterclip Ranger. They are very good and extremely reasonable. The only complaint is that they are nois and only come with 2 x sets of 3mm blades. I would have preferred a second set of blades with a finer cut.

Although I'd love a sheep shearing machine I don't think I could justify it as it would only be used for dagging and maggot shearing. To many years working with sheep/livestock has given me a much dodgy back which makes shearing a painful experience for all involved!

Great site have just ordered a set of clippers from their used list.
