Title: ‘crusty bits’ on both her ears
Post by: wonderwooly on October 09, 2013, 11:43:39 am
Hello all I noticed a ewe today who had scratched just above her eyes, on closer
Inspection saw she had some ‘crusty bits’ on both her ears I think she has tried rubbing them and scratched her face doing so... possibly.
I had a quick Google but a bit confusing, lots of different types of mite ear, nothing conclusive  ect.
She otherwise is in good form and non of the others have anything similar, any guesses
Or possible course of action?

check your fields for bog asphodel - it can cause sensitivity to sunlight if they eat too much.

hi thanks for the replies interesting stuff i shall look into it either way..

though, she seems to have made a recovery, not so serious then, I am still
not sure exactly what happened but may be the scratches were over the eyes were
just a bramble or something bit strange though how very exactly the same both
side they where, was a bit alarming at first but there healing up.
so actually a simple and pleasant end to a sheep dilemma. well theres a first for every thing!
thanks again
