Title: Livestock insurance:
Post by: Shropshirelass on October 02, 2013, 06:23:53 pm
Asking on behalf of a friend who's looking to get some Welsh black pigs - does anyone else apart from the NFU insure livestock & are good? x

We have changed to Denis O Brown after years with NFU, they seem very good but haven't had a claim so couldn't comment on how they deal with those.  We were very happy with NFU's service, but not their price. With Denis O Brown, some things were cheaper and some more expensive, but overall we saved nearly 1000 pounds. ( can anyone tell me where the  pound sign is on my kindle, laptop finally died)

"Welsh" black pigs? No such thing. There are large blacks, Welsh (which are white), but no Welsh black pigs. Large blacks are sometimes known as "Cornish blacks", because of one of the areas where they originated.

Sorry my mistake I had that name in my head for some reason but normally I'm very good on breeds I did mean Large blacks - (The breed doesn't really matter just peoples opinions on insurance anyways.)

We've moved to Cornish Mutual - miles cheaper and I had a small claim this year which was settled in days.  Lovely people too!
