I got 10/10 and I was only certain of 1!
I used to wonder where English morphed into Scotland, and realised a few years ago that it's where I live now. Most of the words I thought, "What would I think he meant if BH used that word?" - and I got every single one right, lol.
-
Not bad, I got the Haver slightly wrong but 9 out of 10 for a Southerner aye?
-
Thank you for this, it made me remember my papa bob who used this language daily, got 9/10
-
I got 7/10 :-[
-
Easy peasy - where's the hard ones? :excited:
-
I got 8/10, but I reckon I'd have got 10 if I'd heard them spoken in context. That's my excuse anyway. :)
-
I should post a Leicester quiz, where I was born and grew up but not sure I would get them all correct either!!
-
Watch out or I'll do a Black Country one :roflanim:
-

Great chieftain o the puddin'-race!
Aboon them a' ye tak your place,
Painch, tripe, or thairm:
Weel are ye worthy o' a grace
As lang's my arm.
Address to a Haggis Translation Fair and full is your honest, jolly face,
Great chieftain of the sausage race!
Above them all you take your place,
Stomach, tripe, or intestines:
Well are you worthy of a grace
As long as my arm.

living up in the north east of scotland teaches you a whole new language, took me ages to work out what folk were talking about when they used words such as scurries. they are sea gulls
-
I got 7 out of ten, must be losing my touch, my ex was a Glaswegian! (very excitable :censored: )
-
7/10
-
Cripes! 8/10. As a Yorkshire lass through and through I thought I would fail miserably but those Highland holidays each year as a child clearly had some lasting effect. :excited:
-
9/10 - I take it 'jalouse' is a north thing? Never heard of it!!
-
6/10 - Mostly by guessing the least probable answer.... ;D
-
me too - 6/10
-
7/10, soooo proud :roflanim: (was guessing 4 out of those 7) :&>
-
I got 8/10 but only have a minute drop of Scottish blood running through my veins, so I was quite pleased and surprised with my score. The local lads in down town Pwllheli, refer to certain unattractive girls as mingers or as being minging but tell me, the one phrase that I've never been able to comprehend is " Och aye Jimmy" What the heck does that mean then? :roflanim:
-
9 out of 10 for me , good fun.
-
Och aye is oh yes.
-
but whats a Jimmy ? :roflanim:
