I have 1 bird from the ones i got from darkbrowneggs who has started to cock a doodle doo....
its a real shame he's a cute character but i can't keep him here...
this is from the line of dark coloured egg layers, he is mainly black with a copper collar and bizarrly a couple of white splobs in his plumage.
obviously id love him to go for breeding but accept thats not always possible, if anyone wants him let me know...
i am at the smallholder show tomorrow and can deliver him there if anyone wants him...
even if he does end up in the pot i just need him gone before my landlady finds out about him...

How old do we think he is now? Sometimes the Copper Blacks both males and females have the odd white feather which seems to disappear when the final feathers come in, but on that last lot of chicks I didnt keep any records really so he may be pure Copper Black or possibly a mix. Really can't guarantee anything other than that he will be carrying some genes for good dark eggs This is a photo someone sent me today from 2 of my pullets which have just started laying

they are 10 or 11 weeks old i believe...
still needs a new home, he's not at full volume yet but he's trying hard!!!
-
Might be a pity to just kill him
This is one of the brothers of the eggs I posted (well uncle anyway) He looks as though he will make a fine bird

Oh no - didn't see this before I set off on Friday - I would have liked to take him. I have two hens from a dark brown strain (I hatched the eggs and they were really dark brown and are probably not related to your batch, as they came from Teesside).
I also have a spare cockerel from that hatch - he is currently running with his sisters...
I am coming up to near the Forth Road bridge on Wednesday to collect a tup, but need to google the address etc. Also going up to Dundee on October 12th (Sat) so could do a detour then. I am in the Borders, St Boswells.
Anything can be sorted?

anke for him to go to a good home, i will meet you within reason anywhere on your route when you come to collect the tup on wednesday... message me when and where you'll be and we'll arrange something!!!
-
had a quick look at your likely route i could easily meet you at the McD's on the roundabout turning for edinburgh airport, looks to be on your obvious route...
-
Will get in touch with you tonight once I clarified my route/timings. Can "pay" for him either with fresh tomatoes/cucumbers or some homemade jam.
-
all jam donations gratefully received...

Pleased to see he has a new home

Hopefully its all sorted but if you need a temporary home about half way between FRB and Dundee til 12 October I could be a fosterer short term and you could pick up on your way home from Tayside.
I feel partly responsible for his situation as if he'd been a girl he'd hopefully have been coming here but I'm doomed to remain Maran-less this time around :'( One cockerel is enough around here and they'd not get on but I could pen him somewhere with Bloomer's assistance for a couple weeks anyway.. Just if the tup trip isn't convenient handover-wise for you both.

Hi, sorry things a wee bit hectic today (and yesterday)...
Should be at the Newbridge roundabout between 10.30 and 11am (unless probs on City bypass) - will set off from here just after 9, as I need to make phone call at 9am... Know where McD's is (it's a regular toilet stopover on the way to Dundee, I wouldn't eat in there though). I drive a white van. Will pm you my mobile, and van reg. Is that ok?

thats fine i'll be there for 10.30 unless i here otherwise
