Title: it's tomorrow
Post by: Fleecewife on September 27, 2013, 11:16:30 am

I'm starting to get excited now as the Show is tomorrow  :o :o   I think everything's ready - white coats looked out, sheep lined up, trailer clean, the trophy we have donated all polished and engraved....What have we forgotten?    Oh yes, paperwork, mustn't forget that.

I do hope we have time to look around a bit.  I'm particularly looking forward to the talking pigs Bloomer told us about last year:
<<<I also saw most of the 2 pigs for the freezer talk also very good and very informative>>>  :pig: :pig: :roflanim:

Looking forward to seeing friends old and new.

We are all excited for the visit. Didn't get there last year and this year the Saturday was triple booked but we opted for the SSF  :excited:
Also hoping to pick up a couple of chicks while we are there  :fc:

Look forward to tAS member spotting  ;D

Good decision mammyshaz.

I will have my 'fleecewife' Tshirt on, but it will be well hidden under a white coat so no-one knows who I am when I find myself ignominiously at the bottom of the judging row  :D   Still, I've been there many times before  :eyelashes:

 :excited: :yippee: :yippee: :yippee: :excited:

Goats just been bathed, white coats ironed, just need to pack the van... Looking forward to it, but a bit disappointed that I will miss quite a few of the interesting talks/seminars, as I am showing the goats in the morning... :(

Hello Anke.  Same here but we then have to wait for the Best Horns class, which is last of all  >:(
I heard from Moira who tells me she is helping you with your goats.  I hope she has time to come and cheer on one of my NST ewes which she bred  ;D

I had a few minutes of mad panic when I couldn't find my envelope with the passes and sheep numbers in  :o :tired: :tired: :o    Then I found it just where I had known it was, but I was for some reason looking for an A4 size envelope, not a letter size.  :relief:
I think that's really everything ready now, just the sheep to catch.

I'm coming down with Carol (fifesmallholder) but will mostly be sitting at the Central Scotland Smallholders stand - come and say hello - and buy a garden quiz!  I've got some poppy seeds and spaghetti squash seeds to give away too.

It's a very beautiful trophy - I'm almost tempted to gat some horned sheep just to have a go at winning it. It really is lovely

Thank you very much Rosemary  ;D   It's certainly different and no-one would be unable to guess which class it's for  :roflanim:   Thank you for inviting Mr Fleecewife to present it

And I for one think that the judge missed the best horns completely.... not saying that the Jacob horns or the CMM horns were not really nice... but those horns on your boys are just magnificent, no other word for it... (my personal opinion I hasten to add).

Yes I agree. Everyone around me was talking about how magnificent they were and they really stood out in the ring.

Looking forward to seeing friends old and new.

It was lovely to meet you at last, although a bit longer to chat with you and Gordon would have been nice.  :)

Maybe we should arrange another Scottish TAS meet sometime soon...

Yes fleecewife the trophy was something that caught my eye very nice indeed and as I said to Mr fleecewife would hold a good tot of whisky and I think I spoke to you after the horn class asking you if the judge had said why your sheep had not been picked and all the time it never dawned on me who I was speaking to. There were some magnificent horns a very good class I though. I also met sallyintnorth and chatted for a wee while would have liked to talk longer but circumstances dictated otherwise. So met two forum member who I have a lot of respect for.

I was thinking that.... We should have something. I've met a fair few scottish members, but there's still lots I haven't met yet- despite being at the festival with them.....

Thank you for all your nice comments about the trophy and about our freaky sheep horns  ;D   Hebs used to be 60% multihorned but so many people think 2 horns are plenty for any sheep that they are now only 6% of the breed. We are used to being sent to the bottom of the class because so few judges, esp Heb judges, like multihorns - we know our place in life  :eyelashes:     I think the judge was taking judging the class very seriously but we are more into zany. I suppose if we wanted to win back our own trophy we should have brought our 2 horned tup who has massive 1 1/2 turn striking black curly horns.     The sheep were so delighted to get away from the noise and return to their nice safe fields.  They did leave me with a few bruises and a split lip  :roflanim:
I was delighted that the horns class was open to goats as well as sheep - it was lovely having them all in together  :goat: :sheep:  - and two goats were placed which is great

I'm sorry I didn't manage to match up faces with TAS names sometimes.  There were so many I do know and I so wish I had known who the rest are.  We should wear our TAS names across our foreheads  :D  A local meet-up would be lovely Dan   I haven't been to one before and I would love to find out who everyone is.  It was good to meet with you at last too (you're much taller than I expected  :innocent: )
Bigchicken, was that you speaking with Alec with the spotfree texel, and Mr F?  I wasn't very quick on the uptake by then - turned into a zombie  8)
