6 month lamb with scour was drenched with Cydectin and Vexocan mixture made up by vet. Never thought when I picked up the drench from the surgery to ask, when should I see an improvement in the scour. Any thoughts from similar experiences?

Can't comment on cocci (Vexocan) but with worms I would expect a result within 24 hours, certainly 48 hours.

Thanks for that, vet is away for a day now and the receptionist had no idea of time scale.

Depends on the gut damage maybe days or weeks and may be re occuring

I didn’t respond earlier as I didn’t want to tempt fate !! I guess I’ve been lucky.
24 hrs. there was some improvement, alternating between scour and more solid. 48 hrs. all solid no scour. So it seems to point to a worm problem but no local FEC counts service available, must try and find one for next year.
They were due to ‘go’ this week and I hadn’t wormed them before because the field hadn’t seen livestock for 20 years, I thought it was safe enough!. I’ll know for next year..

I am sure Westgate Labs would do FECs for you by post, it might be a wee bit extra for postage from Ireland, but would have thought the samples would still get to them in time to test.
