Title: Hi all from Hampshire...
Post by: Olly on September 17, 2013, 11:03:35 pm
I dont think that I could get much further south than TAS! I live in Hampshire near to Petersfield with my wife and 2 daughters. We dont have a small holding but have a good sized veggie patch, a fruit cage and a new addition this year was the poly tunnel that has been awesome.

Hopefully we will get some runner ducks but my wife wants to get chickens so not sure who is going to win that one!

I have only just joined but love this site

Welcome to the forum. The answer to your conundrum is simple. Get both runner ducks and chickens  ;D

Hello,

I'm just along from you in Kent. Never quite sure when you cross the border into smallholding - I've got veges, soft fruit, fruit trees, geese, ducks, chickens and bees but not sure I'm smallholding proper yet. Still deliberating over pigs but not convinced -having seen the damage they do!

Welcome here anyhow - a wealth of knowledge available (not mine). And yes, go for both ducks and chickens although ducks are a dabbling, messy bunch I have to warn you! My ducks are better layers than the chickens though (very breed dependent).

Weird, I'm from Petersfield and still have friends there. Good luck and fair weather with all you set out to do.
