Hi folks
The British Pig Association have gotten involved with the Festival this year and are holding a sausage competition on the day  There are classes for pedigree and non-pedigree pork, either home made or butcher made entries are acceptable.
We're really excited about this :excited: and there are fantastic prizes up for grabs from Weschenfeldar and Quality Meat Scotland, who've shown their support once again.
All the information is here http://www.scottishsmallholdershow.co.uk/sausage-competition/ (http://www.scottishsmallholdershow.co.uk/sausage-competition/)
The closing date for sending entry forms (either by post or email) is 26th of September and sausages should be handed in on the day or can be posted in advance. For more details please contact Carron Stewart (Scottish Sector BPA representitive) by emailing [email protected]
So come on, pig keepers, get your entries in ;D

What about mutton? I don't have any to show at the mo, and I appreciate that it's a pig thing, but just had to stick in a bit of support for my favourite sausages :stir: ;D
Will there be sausages for sale too Karen?

I suspect the British Pig Association might have somethign to say about mutton sausages in their competition ;) :innocent: ;D
We tried an 'all species' competition last year, but only got one lamb sausage entered - might give it another go next year (but only if you promise to enter !)
We've got any stalls currently signed up to bring sausages for sale......that could change though before the day itself. I'm going to try and get a couple of pigs off before the show - mainly to stock up on orders here, but if you need some sausages bringing along just let me know

There's a meat pie class in the Garden, Craft & Kitchen show and I'm sure a mutton pie would go down well, or even a mutton sausage pie. :D

Actually I don't see that the BPA really would object, because the pork ones would win every time. Mutton sausages are definitely an acquired taste even to those of us who love them, so maybe having a rival would help. What - no sausage icon :o
Karen - you know I would love to take part in future years but I can't promise to be there, as you know :'( Even this year I will only know I really will be there once I actually arrive ::) I still have some sausages and burgers to make from the pork I got from you, so really I'm just being lazy looking for some to buy.
