As ever an interesting hyped up version from the Daily Mail. I'm right in the area they're most likely to cross over to (far, far South East). We had a warning note from the local beekeepers association to look out for them after a suspect sighting in Maidstone. We then got a message that it was just a normal European hornet. So as yet, I don't think one has been spotted in the UK - I've just double checked Beebase and they're still on alert but no actual sightings yet.

Which is not to say it won't happen and if it does, it'll be nasty. It's certainly spread through France quite quickly (but over years rather than swarming the country in a month - the first one was spotted there in 2005).  :fc: the colder weather arriving now will stop it for this year at least.
