Title: Fluffy mold on ham
Post by: RonMinch on August 29, 2013, 10:01:17 am
Hi I have my first attempt at drying ham on the go for about for about 4 months now. I know they do have mold growing on them but seem to recall someone saying that it should not be fluffy. Does this mean mine are wasted, or is there anything I can do?

Is it like the thin hairy stuff thatt tries to reach for the sky or is it just a very thin layer spreading outwards?

If it looks like it'll sprout like mushrooms, not good...

What is your ham covered with?

Hi Eve, its rapped in muslin, then suspended in a pillow case. The mold is grey and dusty on the outside of the case, been hanging for about 4 months now, can I open it to check it or is it best left alone. Regards Ron.
