Rhums little pup, not a very good photo but they are all doing very well and I am about to name them, any thoughts before I commit to the KC with Curry names?
The affix will be WEESHIRES, partly to do with where we live, the wee county and partly to do with lord of the rings!, the curry names just are a change from the usual chocolate ones that often chocolate labs go for, thought please on :_
Korma
Roghan
Madras
Jalfrezi
Balti
Tikka
Masala
and the last is not a curry but a chutney, Brinjal that's will be our girl
then for a stand buy, Chutney and Mango...I actualy like the name Mango!!
-
 Please don't use Chutney though - that's a terrible name.
-
I agree with Rosemary about Chutney. I'm not keen on Jalfrezi either.
Other names you could have are Tarka, Phall, Keema,

I love Tarka and Keema  Phall's a bit, well, phallic ;D
-
Not keen on jalfrezi myself the name not the food :innocent: , but I do like pickle or chutney but they would only be names on the reserve list....I will name them later tonight.......ha haha after a curry  I did ,like Tarka but wanted to keep to a theme......Tarka the Otter was such a lovely story
-
Sandy, Tarka is an Indian meal, tarka dal so you could still use that name
-
Arhhh, well I love the name Tarka, a friend who has a relation to the stud dog has otter, so there is a lovely connection!!!!
Tarka one is then fingers crossed, the KC can say yes or know if they want........ :fc:
-
poppodom? rogan josh?
oh heck...

-
Going to use Rogan..maybe add the josh...its making me hungry.........poppodom is a good name for a poodle cross lab :innocent:
-
samosa, kofta, bajji, making me hungry too... ;D ;D
-
yummmmmmm.................I love a curry, and a chocolate lab
-
i think chutney is a nice name for something, maybe a goat or a wee scruffy mongrel. pickle is nice.
-
love the name Boris for a male but its not going to be....we have 5 girls and 3 boys but curry names are sex less......
-
Then there are the curry spices - coriander, cumin, turmeric, chilli, fennel, ginger, garam masala, to name but a few.

boris would have to a blonde lab with a good head of hair :roflanim: :roflanim:

You need more puppies happygolucky ;D
-
I never register mine till after they have weaned and I know they are eating well. I have heard of too many occasions where a puppy has turned sickly and sometimes died after weaning due to stomach or throat problems. Megaesophagus springs to mind and it is randomly apparent in almost every breed
That said I also give the KC two names for each puppy and have never had any of my first names rejected. The KC will reject if a name is common to another in the same breed (unlikely with these names I suspect ) so if you want to be ahead of the KC and can find the breed database you could look them up.
I'm sure the Labrador Club will have one, ours is a source of considerable information but I have to maintain it quarterly from the BRS and show and field results.
-
My daughter had the one for her year, far too much for me to take in :innocent: , I could not have Iona in our last litter when I chose Islands but could have Kilda, Sky etc.......I spoke to KC yesterday but never got around to registering them yesterday as we were a bit pre occupied.....if I leave it too late, the paperwork can get lost in the post for new owners!! Not keen on getting them chipped as then they will all be in my name and at least one is going to England
-
No need to post it and wait these days - do it online - instant registration! You can print off the results and then the actual forms can be waited for.
But the KC can turn around correctly completed paper registrations in 3 weeks anyway. I have to send paper registrations for bobtail litters as they need vet letters so I know for a fact they can and will do them that fast!
-
I have always done it online but the pedigree papers have lots of info and free stuff that gets sent when registered, that's what I need!!
-
Free stuff? You still get the pedigree papers when you register online. There are a number of companies who will send free puppy packs.
-
...Ok....when I do not have the paperwork ...our printer is like me, not too healthy...
-
You won't need to print it - KC sends registration papers out. They are a legal document so can only be printed by them.

:-[ I'm not too keen on the curry theme to be honest - sorry :-[ :-[ ::). I would be wanting to change my puppy's KC name if it arrived with Korma or Balti in it :-\ However, on saying that one of my first dogs was a Tricolour Rough Collie who came with the name Lademar I should be so Lucky. As you have probably guessed, he was born around the time Kylie Minogue was highly popular. I really didn't like the name, but didn't change it either! I quite like the precious stones/jewels theme such as topaz, pearl, diamond, ruby, jade, but then you would probably need a litter of bitches and only the odd male pup to make it work.
My sister in Australia has a choc lab and he has the name Bournville (very original :-J!).

What you call your new pup is totally irrelevant to the KC registered name - for example - Aberdon Sgurr Mhairi is Freckles, Abderdoin Sron na Ban Righ is Pebble, Fosscott Alaine over Aberdon is Allez, Yarak Viola to Aberdon is Belle, Fosscott H-ooh La La was Gigi etc etc Only my Wire kept her KC name Hester. We bred a little chocolate/liver bitch called Button, her KC name was Aberdon Jamira
-
Not keen on any of my 2 bitches KC names but its irrelevant, its just something personal, I doubt many people keep the KC names as a pet name! most are far too long to call on a dog walk , out chocolate bitch is called Kendici treat for all, try calling that? or the Black on, White whisp Blackfoot!! It was funny when one of the dogs that is now doing lots of agility, won a certificate written badly and it came back with Weeshites Dildo, :roflanim: when the KC name given by me is Weeshires Bilbo (lord of the rings)
-
.forgot to add, great granddad down the line on both sides was Madras master mariner......I think its a change to have something brown related other than chocolate!
-
Anne, you lost me, I have no intention of printing out anything but have printed out my own pedigree to show people, the reason I register them Online early is sometimes it takes a while for the pedigree paperwork etc to come, I know people can and do check who is who online too but they need a slip to start off the free 4 weeks insurance, I do not mean I would print off KC stuff , as it is, I hope to send the pups to their new home with the KC paperwork that should arrive in plenty of time and the free slip to start the insurance, it has to be started 2 or 3 days after they go to their new home and then any illness or injury will be paid for....I remember one litter I waited and waited and when I rang although the litter was registered online, no one had sent out the papers so then I had to send stuff on and fortunately no need for the insurance but that's critical when selling pups....

Do you really want brown related names? First time a puppy chews something it will be a little sh*t anyway ;D
You call them what you like - they're your puppies :) Folk might change them anyway once they get them home.

There may well be nice names for the same thing in other languages, I wonder
well that kept me amused for a while, went into Google translate and tried all the different languages, interesting but no, keep to the curry names
-

that is hilarious, somebody was having a laugh that day! :roflanim: :roflanim: :roflanim:
i think most people have chosen a name for their dog long before they buy it, i know we did.
-
we went to pick up a patterdale/Lakeland pup and as soon as we saw him his name was Billy, he was adorable but very naughty and got run over when we moved and a guest left the door open :(
