Hi from the outskirts of London, at the moment I'm still working and living in this crowded area (radiographer) however we own a smallholding half way up a mountain in north west Bulgaria and hope to move there lock, stock and barell in the not to distant future.
I've been reading this forum for quite a while now and collecting some of the more useful tips so I thought I had better join and introduce myself.

Wow, what an adventure! Do you have connections in Bulgaria?

Hello and welcome from Carmarthenshire  Life is going to be very different for you when you move and we would be interested to hear all about it.

Hello and welcome from Carnoustie

Welcome, my wife worked in the NHS and 'bailed out' as soon as she could. We now live at the bottom of a hill in Wales and can't get back here fast enough when we do stray back into a city.
(Thought to myself. Do city folk realise how stupid their lives look when viewed form the outside? I wouldn't put animals in a Tube Train in London let alone cram them with people. Shakes head in disbelief and mutters.)

Absolutely. They look grey and unhappy. And they never smile!

Hello! The last time I went on the Tube, was on a school trip, I must have looked very worried, because a wee girl said to me "Don't worry, Miss, it'll be OK, do you want to hold my hand?"

 and welcome from :sunshine: Shropshire. I would hate to live in or near London and I am a Londoner born.

Yes it's becoming all we hoped it would be, nope I don't have any connections with Bulgaria but have met some really nice people living in and around our village. In fact there's a fantastic couple living in the next village over who looks after my house when we'er not there.

Soooo.... how did you come to buy a property in Bulgaria?

Soooo.... how did you come to buy a property in Bulgaria?
Well (are you sitting comfortable) about 6 years ago we were having a drive around what was Yugoslavia and some of the old eastern block country's, we popped up to Romania and then cut down to Bulgaria. This was the end of May beginning of June and Bulgaria was stunning. So green and fresh, with so much growing, we could not believe how lovey a place could be. The area we visited was over the other side of the country from the tourist areas, so in places nearly empty, as in drive for ages without seeing another car. On our return to the UK I did some Internet checking and found a property we both liked and bought it. A large house, a second old style tiny Bulgarian house (built over a small stable to help with winter warmth) , a large thin barn say 50 meters long by 2 meters wide, and old ruin called a summer house and all on about 2 acre's of land. All for the huge price of unbelievabley cheapness.
Since buying the place I have had the main house renovated, nearly finished all but the bathrooms. Planted 20 apple trees, 10 pear trees and loads of grape vines all down my fence line.
Hope this was not to boring to read.

Boring?!! :o I should say not!
I kind of sensed there'd be something of the kind when you said you'd no connections over there.
Well done you for taking the plunge and risk of buying in not just an unknown area but an unknown country and where you don't know anyone, either. I don't think I would have had the guts and I take my hat off to you. :notworthy:
Please keep telling us your story as it evolves :)

A really interesting read and moving to Bulgaria makes my short move (1 hour) from the North East coast to the North Pennines seem quite ordinary (but I love it none the less!)
Good luck with your adventures...
