Title: flaming mice
Post by: shygirl on August 14, 2013, 10:53:37 pm
We had our boiler serviced today even tho it seems fine.
Apparently mice have chewed the internal cables and it will be just short of £600 to fix.
argh why is everything so expensive? And how do you stop mice from getting inside the boiler, there are no big gaps in the metal cover and its kept in a stone wall workshop with a good door. I think the mice come down from the roof so I'm not convinced building a barrier wall,as suggested the Scottish gas manny,would work. Can mice climb walls? There are plenty of copper pipes for them to run along anyhow. I'm a bit scared to use poison with cats and dogs around.
Sorry...just letting off steam  ::)

How big is the boiler!  :o you can get a new one to fit our house for almost that price!

If it's a routine service I would recommend finding a local self employed boiler engineer  ;)

We had a mouse die in the back of our boiler earlier this year. Of course, we couldn't get at it. The smell for a few days was ripe to say the least!
