My Victoria plums are almost ready for harvesting....... when woulde the best time to harvest the apples and pears? :sheep:

It depends entirely on the varieties. We've got some apples, like Discovery, that are harvested in August, right through to Claygate Pearmain which is harvested in December.
Do you know the varieties? If so, check out a site like http://www.orangepippin.com/ (http://www.orangepippin.com/) which will give you an idea of the typical harvest period. If not, try a local orchard group who will probably be able to help identify the varieties.

I picked the plums from one of the trees last weekend and managed to save eight pounds of them from the wasps. We popped them in the freezer, from where they are destined to become plum and ginger jam.
I tried one of my Red Devil apples and they're not sweet enough yet.
