I keep N Z White rabbits and have a nice selection of unrelated stock so I can supply breeding stock. If anyone wants any info or advice I'm always happy to help.
If you're local enough not to mind a trip over to our place I can help with basic stuff like nail clipping, sexing, diet advice and generally give support. I do like to talk rabbits :)........and sheep too if I'm honest :excited:

Hmm funny how things happen :innocent:
I was reading an article about rabbits for meat this morning and suggested to Dan that we try it. I may well get back to you about this.

If you decide you want some just let me know. There is someone coming up from Fife next weekend to take some but there are more litters coming on.

We used to keep a few many years ago (and californian if I remember right), and I did think about keeping a few again, need to replan the barn first though,
I once read an idea of keeping them with the goats and they would eat the hay the goats wasted, what do you think?
-
No idea about that one, I think I would worry about the goats standing on the rabbits, but then I don't have experience of goats so I wouldn't know.
I'm quite taken with the rabbit tractor idea myself as once the initial expense of making a moveable run with shelter box attached was done, there would be no feed bill apart from in winter. There would be mucking out and grass fed meat is healthier.

Julie, once we get the Festival past, would it be OK if we came to see you to talk about rabbits?

You mean you want to rabbit about rabbits? :bunny:

I have a couple of nice friendly little buck rabbits who are about 10wks old now. There is a new litter of unrelated kits containing 4 does which are a tad over 3 wks old.
I'm going to need to make a decision regarding these boys in the next 4 wks (after that they may fight) and as these bucks would make ideal companions for the 4 does I wondered if anyone was interested in me hanging onto them?
There are other litters coming up but it is reputed to be better to have the buck roughly a month older than the does at first mating - no idea why, but experts recommend it so who am I to argue.
Basically what I'm asking is does anyone want me to hang onto them? It's not urgent as they can stay together for another 4 wks approx and there will be other unrelated bucks in the litters of the does now pregnant, it just seems a shame not to have the right age balance.
Let me know in the next 3 weeks if you think you might be interested :)
