Title: Price of goats
Post by: ScotsGirl on July 31, 2013, 08:38:18 am
Can anyone give me a guide for pricing boer x kids (girls). They vary a bit on size, one large single and 3 smaller who were twins or triplets. Some are 50% and 87.5% 4-5 months old at the moment. I'm not having any interest and wondered if I am expecting too much.

It seems when buying livestock everyone wants big money but when selling no-one wants to pay. I'm scared to put mums back with billy this year and find I get another batch of girls. Wanted some boys for the freezer .

Average price for 50% would be around £100 ea................& the others in the region of  £140
Have you put them on UKGoats selling site.
Also put them on Goaty Friends on Facebook...............

That may be where some of them go. I will wait and see how they grow. I didn't disbud and that hasn't been a problem except the sods kept getting stuck in fence. I'm sure they were doing it on purpose! Might have to re-think that in future although not had anyone comment on the horns so don't want added expense if I have to keep them. I don't really agree with removing them although I understand the argument for doing so.

Everyone that has contacted us has always checked that they are definatly Disbudded  before they come to visit even though it said so in the adverts
Maybe its because you have said they have horns or have you mentioned if they are CAE tested ?  I have had 2 more people contact me today about goats.
some of ours are going down to Lincolnshire  so it cant even be a distance thing with yours  :-\
