The micro-meadow was due for a trim, at least the part where Herself has a large square of washing lines and poles.
Problem was the number of wee Orchids. mostly wee pale and deep purple fellows but with some pale yellow sorts thrown in for a bit of a mix.
It took ages to cut but, being fleet of foot a la Wayne Sleep, and some fine manouvering of the Honda Powered Mountfield, the Orchids remain.
Due to all this weaving, bobbing, ducking and diving it took far longer than usual and, therefore, I got a drop of sun burn....on Skye! Still, worth it to see the orchids remain.
Including the uncut area I stopped counting at 50 and it cannot be more than 16th Acre absolute tops!
Seems a good year for the orchids (Elvis Costello!). Hope you all have vast swathes of them too :bouquet: .

Well saved. I love orchids.

We've been at our place for 18 years now and this is the first year we've had orchids - just two, but you've got to start somewhere :excited:
When will they have safely set their seed Sskye?

Thanks L&M :) - Our first summer at New house and orchids galore. Yet more proof we made the right move!
MGWoM - Yes, it was like mowing a ski slalom...hanging the washing today involved some skipping too!
FW - No idea when they set. In the area I do not cut, where 90% of the orchids are, everything is left until a fine couple o dry-days late autumn, then I scythe it down and leave all where it falls. Seems to work. There's loads of varied "stuff" in there, including some long grasses, stems, that are over 4' tall and, well, just loads of blues n yellows n purples n blues. Nature at Her best I'd say.
