I would of had 6 quail and a trio of bantams, if you didn't live on the other side of Scotland. There's no chance you are visiting any were near Oban or fort William any time soon, is there :fc: .

I'm so sad, one of my quail was dead in their crate this morning - I think it's the cockerel, so sad............... :'( :'(
-
sorry to hear that. we have had no problems here . will drop u in another the first time we are over your way . kevin

That's very kind of you, Kevin - I wasn't asking for a replacement, nor expecting one. No idea what happened, they were all fine last night when I bedded them down, and they've been eating and drinking fine.
I'm assuming it was the male being much bigger than the other two. Would that be right? I haven't inspected it's rear end :innocent:
I don't know if the two eggs I had from yesterday would have been fertile but Stuart (CSSA Chairman) has popped them in the big incy with some other eggs so we'll see what happens.
I've put these two in a clean cage with fresh bedding, food and water.
On the brighter side, Allez has retrieved it from my pond (and swum!!! Yippee) three times, so it has definitely proved it's worth. Nothing is wasted here, just waiting for the cat to bring me another bunny so I can cover a dummy with the skin. (the dogs get the rest as a treat)

easyest way to tell is the hens have speackled chests and the cocks chest is clear .the eggs should be very fertile. they are the cutest wee chicks. let me no which u think it is.kevin

Photos of the two remaining - at least one is a hen because I got an egg yesterday and they look the same to me. Just going to switch their light off, will have another look.
The one that died was bigger than these two
-
Pretty sure the two remaining are both hens - getting an egg a day which is what I'd expect at this age. Very difficult to see the eggs on a floor of shavings :innocent: They don't make a lot of noise till the Marans get too close then boy, can they kick up a fuss - it's a bloodcurdling squeal! :roflanim: Gave me such a fright the first time. :eyelashes:
-
yea they are both hens have kept back another cock for u just never been over your way .they did well at lanark today had 3 trios and some other stuff in
-
No hurry, once the Maran boys are away I'll give them the freedom of the run.
