One eye burst and seems to be clearing, the other still is not nice to look at. Let her out with her two friends today, although doubtful if she can see. Anyway, she was so pleased, and was soon grazing alongside them. Brought her in tonight, which did not go down well.

It burst :o . That's not good. Did the cream do nothing? I wish you'd been given injectable AB's. Does it look like her sight is lost? Try and get the eyelids done Mairi, it will get rid of it. PenStrep in the eyelids and Terramycin in the bum. They'll hate you for a day or two but it will save their sight. Mine are all fine now, boys have gone to their new home and not a dodgy eye among them.

I'm using Tetroxy in the muscle, nothing in the eyelids or eyes, seems to be clearing it.
Burst eye - OMG :o

No .....burst eye was probably the wrong phrase. What I should have said is - the horrible sticking out white, was there when I left the other night (on the worst eye) and had gone by morning. Not the whole eye had burst. I assume it drained away, that's what I meant. Both eyes are still there, although not perfect. Washing with saline solution.
I don;t think Felicity could see when both eyes were swollen, but since going out, they look better. This morning our big dog was walking along the track, and she went up and followed him along the fence line on her side - so think she can see at least a bit.
A sheep farmer told me not to give the AB - he said he had used them on his sheep and they did not help (and it cost him a fortune he grumbled)
-
Phew :relief: I was alarmed for a while there. Don't understand the advise against AB's though I haven't had my bill yet...The AB's felt justified in this circumstance and certainly were far more effective than just the cream which just soothed at the most.

When I went to the vets for eye ointment for them, they told me not to bother, I was as well injecting them with antibiotics - the recovery was as good and it was less distressing for the sheep.
I suppose there are a wide variety of opinions on most things.

True Jaykay. Have just spoken with Mairi and Felicity's eyeball certainly did not explode as it apeared to read! I suppose treatment all depends on so many factors and we won't all agree.
-
I washed their eyes with saline too, I decided it couldn't do any harm and it made me feel like I was helping them.
What a horrid business it is!
-
Hang in there all sufferers, don't want to curse our progress but nearly gone - been a horrid circle of treatment, flare up as all you guys know - good luck all

Vets seem to vary with advice for ailments. My vet was adamant on using the cream over the jab!! I am still washing her eyes out every night. She is out with her friends during the day, and seems happy, and keeps up with them round the field - whether her sight is back I am not sure.
