Just wondered if it is necessary to keep feeding hard feed at the moment? I only give a couple of handfuls each but have just put them on a 10 acre field with the sheep and it is going to be difficult trying to out down feed.
They look well apart from two who were always thin.ndo milking types ever put in enough weight to cover their bones or will they always look thin?

All of our goats are in overnight and they come in at the hottest part of the day because the fields have no shade at all so ours get hard feed and hay as usual

Depends on the amount and quality of grass I would say. Our goats kidded in Feb and were turned out at the end of Feb - they had hard feed and forage til grass came through, then moved to better grazing and havent fed them hard feed for last 2 1/2 months. Kids now 5 months old. All looking well - but 4 dairy crosses not looking as good as 100% boers - they put much energy into their milk. Are weaning all their kids tomorrow so they will soon dry off and put condition on in the next couple of months prior running them with the buck later in the season.
