Wanted toggenburg goats, one male (kid will be ok!) and 2-3 nannies to join my little herd. Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Essex please (we are on Cambs./Suffolk border).
Thank you :D
-
Pure togs or BT's ?
-
I got two BT nannies, but either would be fine!
-
BT's on PreLoved and also AllGoats
-
Kept looking on preloved, but nothing comes up in 50 miles radius really :(
-
Are you on Facebook Ecogypsy? there's a UK toggenburg breeders page on there :)

"Kept looking on preloved, but nothing comes up in 50 miles radius really (http://www.accidentalsmallholder.net/forum/Smileys/default/sad.gif) " Tell me about it I've been looking for over a year and the only goats of the type I'm looking for are on Done Deal in Ireland!...most frustrating!

Yep, that beautiful billy is 176 miles away! :( For my first toggenburg I had to travel for well over an hour, so I dont mind as long is it not THAT far lol

Actually quality goats of any breed are now few and far between - I recently did a 760mile round trip to collect a billy kid. And getting my BT girls mated is usually a 300mile round trip too... all in one day! If you want quality you have to travel nowadays...
-
Yes I can agree, but if I would travel that far I would do it to pick up more than only one goat (and maybe some horses, good and not expensive are in Yorkshire!)

If You DO come to Yorkshire, I have a male and a female Toggs, I think Billyboys mum would happily wave goobye to him now ;D .
-
One day maybe!
Found 3 months old billy ONLY 122 miles away :innocent: but breeder willing to meet me halfway :excited:
-
So how does that work out with the movement records?
-
Toggs in Cambridge here http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/108626400/pedigree-toggenborg-goats-x-2.html (http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/108626400/pedigree-toggenborg-goats-x-2.html)

Look like BT's to me
-
Sorry I wasn't aware it was pure toggs wanted :-[
Has Teigh got any,he's in Cambridge?
-
Sorry JJ, I was just commenting they were advertised as pedigree Toggenburgs but they look like British Toggenburgs. I hope that anyone who's wanting a Togg will know the difference.
Plums - Maybe it's time I joined the facebook thingy, curious about the Toggenburg breeders page
(someone once invited me on and I started getting allsorts of odd junk mail, deleted myself ;D )
-
I don't get junk mail from facebook.what privacy settings did you use?I think most of the groups are closed groups anyway.I find FB quicker than forums
-
I got my Eli (bt wether now!) from a dairy farm in great ellingham. You never know they may sell you one early next year if you raise it.....

not ignoring you, comp crashed while I was answering, not been here since.
It's quite a while since I was on FB, so I can't remember, I didn't find out about privacy settings untill I'd gone, it does seem as though everything is on FB now, so I should look at it again.
local group sent me an 'invite' so I might follow that up.

Oh I was away from here for sometime lol... Preparing a new place for our smallholding for next year, so one leg in UK, one leg on the continent, total madness! :relief:
Well, I found this: http://www.farmingads.co.uk/milking-goats-and-young-stock/Livestock/281871 (http://www.farmingads.co.uk/milking-goats-and-young-stock/Livestock/281871) but I'm too late, all the not castrated boys are gone!
In the meantime, my alpine kid died suddenly so I'm left with no male here and getting a bit desperate - where would I find BT billy to serve 3 females?... ???
-
 are your goats CAE tested i should think most breeders will require a current certificate.
my parents have two BT males but are no longer at public stud. i will ask if they know of anyone that has males at stud.
if you are wanting to buy a BT male kid best to get your order in early else any un ordered males are banded or PTS.
BTW how far are you willing to travel ?
-
kja
Thank you very much but goaty problem solved itself very unexpectedly yesterday! We went to get a 3-horse trailer up the north (far north lol!) and on the way found a two year old togg billy! :excited:
