Title: New One For Me
Post by: sabrina on July 09, 2013, 09:02:54 pm
I made a sponge cake today and it is very good. Now you may think, so what but if you had tried a cake made by me in the past you would know what a special event this is. My OH is amazed.

Now you do know practice makes perfect so you have all the excuses to keep making them. And inviting Me over to test them  :yum:

My sponges are usually not very good because I don't cream the butter and sugar long enough. They've got better now I use the Kenwood and go and do something else while the machine does the work

Well done! I have a good one for victoria sponge cake and also an easy fruit cake that you make in a saucepan then bake.
My brother says you could build a house from some of the cakes my mum makes now! don't know what went wrong as she always make great cakes when we were kids.

Well done
I enjoy baking but that doesn't mean its always good  ;D
Don't make many cakes these days because like Sandy they don't last long enough here and I don't need any extra help to put on weight

Well done, Sabrina. Now you know you can do it, you will be able to do more.

Agreed. How does anyone manage without a Kenwood?

My brother says you could build a house from some of the cakes my mum makes now!

My mum used to make Victoria sponges with a leathery texture round the edges which my brothers and I loved them. Then someone taught her how to make a 'proper' sponge using a Kenwood and we never had a decent leather cake again.  :roflanim:

Agree with that great invention the Kenwood, made a really good coffee and walnut cake yesterday using it. The last one that I made BK ( before kenwood) was about half the size.
