Title: Hi from Suffolk
Post by: Sarette on July 03, 2013, 09:24:35 am
Hi everyone

My Husband and I moved into a 5 bed detached house with around 1.5 acres of land in December.. we had plans for a swimming pool, play area for the kids, orchard and maybe a few chickens...

6 months on, we have 3 chickens, but are planning to make a big coop and get some more, we have a huge veggie patch, a mini orchard and are about to go and look at some weaners... we've discussed having goats, and the kids want a pony   sometimes I wonder what on earth am I doing and is this really happening to me??!!

Hi   we are on Norfolk/suffolk border near Beccles.  Sounds great - we are desperately trying to get some land - we just rent 1/2 acre at the moment on which we have 2 GOS pigs and chickens and ducks

Hi
I'm also in Suffolk with sheep chickens, dogs & cats. If you want more hens & would consider excage hens, the BHWT usually have rescue hens every month at Bayham House, the rare breeds farm.
good luck
Rose

Hi and welcome from Shropshire. This smallholding business is very addictive but it's great for children to learn about nature and life and death. Goats are great fun (Biased? Me? Never!  :innocent: ) I only have a back garden but goats, fruit trees and bushes and raised beds for veggies.

Hi from South Lincs. Thoroughly recommend ex-batts. So rewarding and eggs just as tasty as a posh hen.

Hi there, I'm sarettes husband

We got 3 weaners, really enjoying them so far, wish we'd got 6 now!

Does anyone know where you can buy pig feed in a ton quantity around Suffolk? Would rather do that than bags...

We haven't found anywhere yet - maybe some of us could get together to buy in bulk?  I think there are a few TASs in the area, not sure how many have pigs though

My local country store goes halves with me on a ton of bagged feed every fortnight - they sell one half in the shop and I take the other at a steep discount on the individual bag price - well worth asking for.
