Title: Taken by surprise!
Post by: Greenmoor on July 02, 2013, 11:24:46 pm
Well, our last sheep lambed on 30th April and we had all of the sheep clipped at the weekend just past.  Imagine my surprise when I looked out of the window yesterday, to spot something small and black on the hill at the back of the house - an unexpected lamb!  Our only Oxford Down ewe not to have lambed had produced this lovely tup lamb.

As if that wasn't enough of a shock, I was doing my last check of the evening at dusk, when I spotted another new arrival.  Making my way over to her in the field, I was shocked to find a great huge donkey of a lamb!  She's easily the biggest lamb this year by a long way, goodness only knows where mum was hiding her  !!

Anyway, here she is

They were nice surprises  ;D

Yes, I miss lambing, though not the worry and the lack of sleep  ;) But missing lambing is maybe why my kitchen is currently full of chicks........ :D

That sounds by far the less stressful way to lamb. Both beauties  congratulations
