Title: kid has mucous in poo
Post by: Bumblebear on June 30, 2013, 08:50:25 pm
Eli the kid is doing amazingly well but I noticed yesterday he has mucus coming out of his bottom swell as his stool.  He's eating, nibbling everything and very well and active in himself.  He was castrated and dehorned last Monday and was antibiotics then.  Anyone had a similar issue in a young kid? He's 2 weeks old.

You dont mention poo consistency or changes in diet. Maybe try a day off grazing / just hay and see. Temp ok?  I have had cocci in goats but poo was very splat by time we saw mucus. Wormed?

Could be the antibiotics just upsetting his system a bit. I would keep and eye on him and maybe ring the vet to ask  if this could be the case.

I'm just giving him milk but he is out with the girls and trying anything and everything.  The vet wasn't overly concerned as Eli is very bright in himself and feeding OK.  Poo is normal droppings bit with mucus too.
