Title: Scouring after weaning
Post by: Clive on June 28, 2013, 07:15:53 pm
Hi,
We removed our sow from her piglets on Wednesday (7 weeks old). Yesterday I noticed that they were scouring quite badly. I suspect that this is stress related? Although they otherwise seem to be fine.
Should I seek treatment or is this likely to subside naturally?

Should clear up naturally. Like you say most likely just stress and change of diet as in no milk only hard feed.

ditto what B said, make sure they have free access to fresh water and clear up surplus poo so they're not trampling in it and re ingesting.
If it persists (longer than 3 days) Tylan from the vet will need to be put in their water,

We've found that if you cut back slightly on their hard feed for a couple of days that this helps too.
But ditto Mandy & BB

Thanks guys. That's put my mind at ease. They seem fine otherwise.
