Title: Greetings From Sunny Scotland
Post by: Daveravey on July 23, 2009, 04:20:52 pm
Hi everyone,

Just thought i'd better get this 1st post over & done with.

I'm living with my partner & our 3 kids in central Scotland at the moment, currently without land ( unless you can call our veg patch land  lol.

I was brought up & worked our farm until my dad sold up 20 years ago & i moved into haulage.

Gave that up to help look after our disabled daughter a couple of years ago, now looking to rent somewhere with a few acres to grow some food for us all & get clean air into our lungs.

OK, that's enough slabbering from me.

Cheers.

Look at the two pieces of land in the other thread - and how about joining us in CSSA (Central Scotland Smallholders Association)  we aren't all smallholders - many of us just aspiring ones - I have a large garden, 4 dogs, a cat, 4 ducks, 6 hens and a cockerel plus four ex-battery hens about to join us, and a teeny veg patch and a just as teeny fruit bed
Welcome to the forum.  It's informative, and fun!

What age were they when you got them?  Different breeds start laying at different times but it averages at about 6 months.  How many you get depends on breed too - some lay every day, some less often, occasionally more.
Welcome to the forum, lots of lovely and knowledgeable people on here.

If you trawl back through posts you will see we nearly all have great expectations when we get our first Chickens, you'll get some lovely eggs one day soon, I seem to Wait ages and ages, I think they were 24-26 weeks old and they lay nearly every day since and of course I now have some more!!!!
