Title: How to cook a coq
Post by: MAK on June 21, 2013, 09:10:26 am
I was given 3 coq's the other day.
Any suggestions how best to enjoy them. There are only so many coq au vin one can eat so any other suggestions would be great. Coq's are 3 months old and a good size. :chook:

Wont they still be tender if they are only 3 months old? I wonder if a slow roast in a lot of garlic and herb better would be rather tasty, served with a sauce of some description. Wild mushroom or a delicious bread sauce would float my boat!!!

Tikka masala -joint and marinate for 24 hours. Or actually any other curry would be good. Or cook Chicken in Italian style tomato sauce, again cooked slowly... These are the variations II do with our cockerels, we normally only take off legs and breast, and skin rather than pluck.
