one a week i put a straw in the ark only for the pig to throw it all out so the are just laying on the dirt underneath should i give up with the straw while its warm and dry or should i just let them do what they will with it?

If they don't want it at the moment I would not bother putting it in. Every now and then try again, they will certainly want it when the weather changes.

My 2 GOS's where doing the same, I have put a bale of shavings in there so that they are not on the concrete and they seem happy with it

Has it been warm there and how many pigs in the ark?
Mine are in a stone floored barn with a sleeping and eating area. The other day all 3 of them were laying next to the open door on the cool stone floor rather on their deep raft of straw in their "bedroom".

It has been hot here and there is only 2 in a 12 x 12 stable, they where actualy asleep outside under the tree at 10pm last night ::)

They are hot mine, like to sleep in the door way in a breeze, The wallow is also a good place to have a snooze then get out and shake/rub on anyone that goes in with them!

Ours are mostly sleeping outside at the moment too. Our boar, Monty, usually moves his ark leaving the straw behind, then carries mouthfulls of it in or out as he sees fit. I used to find it frustrating when he destroyed his lovely newly strawed bedroom but I just leave him to it these days.
