I have just successfully hatched 4 l/f Russian orloffs from unrelated parents. Has anyone else hatched this breed?
I have just read an article which said this breed is now critically endangered.

i have wanted these for ages and ages - where did you get them from? :excited:
photos please.

Hi shygirl,
It's a sad tale, a gentleman who has had a life long passion for poultry, asked me to take them when I was getting other birds from him , as due to unforeseen circumstances he could no longer keep them. The man was devastated that he had to rehome them and i felt obligated to them. To be honest, I was initially intimitaded of their size, especially the cockerel, However, he is a gentle giant. This man was passionate about breeding unrelated birds and I would like to continue this, but, don't know where to source others.
I would like to post photos but don't know how to using an iPad!!!

Down load the photobucket app and you should just drag and drop from your iPad to photobucket then from there onto the forum. I probably haven't explained this very well, but I really want to see photos of your spangled Russian orloffs :fc:

These are great beautiful and friendly birds - they were my introduction to chicken keeping and i hatched some which were entirely male. The breeder had mine back off me because he lost his cockerel and the ones i had were heavily bearded.
This was my first female hatch that sadly died of a heart attack.

im not that far from you, do you have hatching eggs for sale? :fc:

Where are you based shygirl? I am outside arbroath .

Wow, love the look of these.
If the original owner has kept them so long he may be happy to share the whereabouts of other breeders so you can continue his line. He may be an asset to keep in contact with and more than happy to help :fc:
